According to the information, on the section from the intersection of Kurmanjan Datka and Alisher Navoi Streets to Asrankulov Street, more than 200 conifer seedlings will be completely dug up and moved to the nursery of the city's municipal enterprise for landscaping. As clarified by the city hall, the transplantation of trees is carried out with the root system during the winter period.
“We will take care of these seedlings in the nursery and transplant them to the necessary places in the city later. Deciduous species are usually in a dormant state in winter, which makes this period suitable for their transplantation,” the agency reported.
Future plans include planting more valuable seedlings, which are expected to be brought from neighboring countries. Currently, negotiations are underway with sponsors on this matter.
Earlier, in early 2025, old plane trees and other trees were cut down on Kurmanjan Datka Street. In March of the same year, 100 seedlings of red-leaved maple were planted on the section from Alisher Navoi to Gapar Aitieva Street, each costing $215.
Six months later, on September 25, 2025, the mayor of the city, Jenishbek Toktorbaev, stated at the XIV session of the Osh City Council the necessity of transplanting the seedlings planted on Kurmanjan Datka Street. He noted that the red-leaved maples cannot withstand the high temperatures from the sidewalks, which leads to their drying out.
“The maples planted on Kurmanjan Datka Street need to be transplanted, as this type of tree prefers to grow near water bodies. Due to the heat from the sidewalks, the leaves dry out. If you allow us, we will transplant the spruces and maples to another location,” the mayor added.
It is important to note that the mayor personally participated in the planting of the trees, assuring journalists that the seedlings were delivered with a root ball and would “take root 100 percent.” He also mentioned that he had planted maples in the city of Jalal-Abad, emphasizing that this type of tree is suitable for the climate of Osh.
