On the air of the program on "Birinchi Radio," the head of the Department of Education and Extracurricular Activities of the Ministry of Education, Altynbek Erkimbekov, explained what the school uniform in the country should be like.

Deputy Dastan Bekeshev raised the issue of softening the standards for school uniforms, noting that in most schools, the emphasis is placed on appearance rather than the content of education. He urged the Ministry of Education and the government to allow educational institutions to review the requirements for clothing or adopt new regulations.

Erkimbekov emphasized that the school uniform in Kyrgyzstan should adhere to a classic style, which is not only a regulatory requirement but also an important element of discipline and the creation of a business atmosphere. He also noted that this ensures equality among students. According to the current requirements, the uniform must be adapted to the climatic conditions and temperature in the classrooms. All interested parties, including parents and experts, were involved in the development of the rules regarding school uniforms.

For boys, the uniform includes a shirt, vest, trousers, and a jacket made from solid-colored fabric: black, gray, dark blue, or burgundy. For girls, the uniform includes a blouse, skirt, trousers, dress, and jacket, which can be either solid-colored or plaid. Acceptable colors for shirts are white, light gray, light blue, and light beige.

Erkimbekov also noted that it is unreasonable to require parents from socially vulnerable groups to purchase strict uniforms. In such cases, wearing "light tops and dark bottoms" is permitted.

He added that studying the experience of other countries has shown that abandoning the classic style can lead to social inequality, an increase in disciplinary conflicts, and inappropriate clothing for teenagers. This can also weaken the sense of community among students and increase anxiety levels caused by fashion and peer pressure. Therefore, many countries, while relaxing strict uniform requirements, are moving towards more flexible models, which is also relevant for Kyrgyzstan.

The official assured that the ministry has no information that schools require parents to purchase uniforms from a specific manufacturer for students to look identical.

According to Erkimbekov, the ministry receives feedback from parents, and most of them prefer the classic style. Experts also confirm the necessity of adhering to these standards.
