According to the agency, the installation of meters will be carried out as part of the reforms implemented by the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic and the work on the automation of the electricity transmission and accounting system.
The installation of "smart" meters will be conducted by the Batken Electric Networks Enterprise.
In the districts of the region, the installation will be carried out in the following volumes:
• Kyzyl-Kyya District Electric Networks — 10,150 units
• Kadamjay District Electric Networks — 14,530 units
• Leilek District Electric Networks — 14,105 units
• Sulyukta District Electric Networks — 15,193 units
Currently, there are 130,668 subscribers registered with the Batken Electric Networks Enterprise, of which:
• 121,149 — residential subscribers,
• 9,519 — non-residential subscribers.
It should be noted that in 2024–2025, a total of 62,085 smart meters were installed across the region. In particular, the Batken district and the city of Batken, as well as the city of Kyzyl-Kiya, were fully equipped with smart metering devices.
This large-scale project is being implemented by the JSC "NESK" with the support of the World Bank. Its main goal is to modernize the country's energy sector, improve the digital management system, and ensure the efficient use of electrical energy.
