The Director of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Seitek Jumakadyrov Uulu, reported at a press conference that Kyrgyz citizens in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia are facing problems due to some hotels and airlines ignoring their obligations in emergency situations.

According to him, the UAE's Department of Tourism issued a directive requiring hotels to extend the stay of tourists without additional charges.

However, in reality, not all establishments are following these directives. "Our consuls often have to go on-site to negotiate with the administrations," he added.

Seitek Jumakadyrov Uulu also emphasized that in case of difficulties, citizens should immediately contact the consulate or the specially created headquarters at the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Contacts: Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the UAE: +971522255269;
Consulate General of the Kyrgyz Republic in Dubai: +971522918840;
Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic: +996999312002.

A representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abu Dhabi noted that the main problem is that some airlines and hotels are not fulfilling their obligations. In emergency situations, airlines are supposed to provide accommodation for passengers; however, in practice, Air Arabia does not always accommodate all of its clients, while FlyDubai shows greater responsibility in this matter.

To resolve such situations, consuls are working on-site, even at night, to defend the rights of citizens and find solutions with hotel administrations.

Earlier, a Kyrgyz citizen, Erkingul Sharshenbekova, contacted the editorial office of 24.kg. She reported that she and other compatriots found themselves in a difficult situation in the Emirate of Ajman (UAE) due to the closure of airspace in the region. According to her, they are forced to pay for their accommodation in hotels themselves, while the authorities and the consulate show no interest in their situation.

As of March 2, there are about 22,000 citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Middle East, primarily in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Currently, there are no reports among them of injuries or those left without shelter.
