The second round of the grant competition for universities has started in the Kyrgyz Republic for $4 million.
The competition is organized through the Academic Innovation Fund, which supports scientific and educational initiatives of universities. The total funding of the fund amounts to $4 million.
Grants will be distributed among teachers and researchers from both public and private universities in the country based on a competitive selection carried out by independent experts.
Each grant can be up to $200,000, and the implementation of projects can last up to 36 months.
The program aims to strengthen the scientific potential of universities, support innovative academic initiatives, and develop cooperation between universities and various sectors of the economy.
Funding will be provided for projects aimed at addressing the socio-economic problems of the country, developing key sectors of the economy, as well as research in the areas of climate change and the "green" economy, including regional scientific cooperation.
Special attention will be paid to updating educational programs, implementing interdisciplinary approaches, improving laboratory infrastructure, and integrating digital technologies into the educational process.
Teachers and researchers from public and private universities in Kyrgyzstan can submit their applications. In case of a tie in scores, preference will be given to projects led by women, as well as those that include the participation of female students, individuals from socially vulnerable groups, and people with disabilities.
In the first stage of the competition, a brief project concept must be submitted. Applications will be accepted until April 8, 2026 (0:00) in Kyrgyz or Russian, with a mandatory translation into English.
The second stage, which includes the preparation of a detailed project proposal, will last until July 30.
Online meetings and seminars will be organized for potential participants, where the requirements for applications and the grant acquisition process will be explained in detail.
