The Veterinary Service of Kyrgyzstan Guarantees Meat Safety in Markets
The agency notes that a system for the identification and tracing of animals is successfully operating in Kyrgyzstan. All cattle, pigs, and horses are required to be registered, receiving ear tags or subcutaneous chips. Information about the owner, the place of keeping, vaccinations conducted, and diagnostic studies is entered into a unified electronic database.

Quality control eliminates the possibility of sick animals reaching the shelves. Before slaughter, a private veterinarian conducts a clinical examination, checks the vaccination history, and issues an electronic certificate of form No. 1a with a QR code. Only with this document can the animal be sent to a specialized slaughter point, where specialists recheck its condition and temperature. After slaughter, the meat undergoes veterinary and sanitary examination, receives a primary inspection stamp, and a new electronic certificate of form No. 2.
At markets, the meat undergoes additional inspection. Laboratories for veterinary and sanitary examination conduct a final assessment, after which an oval stamp is placed on the carcasses, and a testing protocol with a QR code is issued, which serves as the main guarantee of safety for buyers.
The veterinary service urges citizens to be vigilant and purchase meat only at official retail outlets. Buyers have the right to demand testing protocols from sellers and can independently scan the QR code on their smartphones to obtain information about the date and place of slaughter, as well as the results of analyses.
Specialists warn that purchasing meat in unregulated places or "from hand" in rural areas, bypassing the identification and tracing system, can pose a serious threat to health.
