The main factors are high speed of movement, lack of protective gear, and non-compliance with safety rules. "Injuries occur in both adults and children, as well as elderly people. Often, scooter users do not wear helmets and do not protect their knees and elbows. Sometimes, after a collision, they do not even stop to help the injured," the doctor added.
Makhamdiev also emphasized that many victims do not realize the seriousness of their injuries and delay seeking medical help. This can lead to a deterioration in their condition, which may occur within a few hours or the next day.
Frequency of Injuries
According to the expert, the most common injuries include:- fractures;
- bruises;
- traumatic brain injuries.
Makhamdiev noted that injuries sustained from scooters represent not only a medical but also a socio-economic problem: recovery requires time and financial costs, and victims may temporarily or permanently lose their ability to work.
