The grand opening of the Center for Islamic Civilization took place in Tashkent, attended by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as reported by the press service of the head of state.

The President noted that the country welcomes the sacred days of Ramadan in an atmosphere of peace and stability. He emphasized that internal harmony and tranquility are especially important in the modern world.

According to the press service, the new Center for Islamic Civilization is a significant spiritual, educational, and scientific project that reflects the rich three-thousand-year history of the people and their contribution to world culture. Shavkat Mirziyoyev added that the opening of the center is the realization of the dreams of many generations and an important step towards preserving and promoting national heritage.

The head of state emphasized that science and education are a priority in Uzbekistan, as it is through knowledge and enlightenment that a strong state and a free society can be created.

The idea of creating the Center was voiced by the president at the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly and received approval from the international community, especially in Islamic countries.

As a result, a large architectural ensemble was formed next to the Hazrat Imam complex in Tashkent, which combines national artistic traditions, modern infrastructure, and an extensive scientific and cultural concept.

The center occupies an area of almost 10 hectares, and the total area of the buildings reaches 50,000 square meters. Inside the complex, extensive exhibitions are planned, dedicated to the pre-Islamic period in the territory of Uzbekistan, as well as the eras of the First and Second Renaissance and New Uzbekistan as a key stage of the Third Renaissance. The center is intended to showcase the rich history of the country, its civilizational heritage, and the high cultural and scientific potential of the Uzbek people.

One of the key parts of the complex is the Hall of the Holy Quran, which is recognized as the main spiritual space of the center. This hall houses the Mushaf of Uthman — one of the oldest copies of the Quran in the world.

In addition, the Center for Islamic Civilization has created conditions for the work of representations of various international organizations, including ISESCO, IRCICA, the Oxford Center for Islamic Studies, and the Association for the Study of the History and Art of the Timurid Era in France, as well as TURKSOY.
