A new government service is being initiated in Kyrgyzstan that will allow citizens to obtain driver's licenses in expedited timeframes. According to the State Institution "Unaa," there is currently an increase in requests from citizens regarding the reduction of the time needed to obtain licenses.
In response to this, a draft standard for the service "Urgent issuance of a driver's license for the right to operate vehicles" has been developed.
As of today, with all necessary documents and successful completion of exams, obtaining a driver's license takes four working days. The new project offers alternative timeframes — three hours, one working day, or two working days, allowing applicants to choose the most convenient option.
Experts from "Unaa" emphasize that the introduction of the urgent service will significantly simplify the process for citizens, reduce queues, and decrease the number of repeat applications. This is especially important for residents of remote regions and those with limited time.
The project is currently in the approval stage. The cost of the urgent issuance will be determined after its approval, taking into account all expenses in collaboration with the State Institution "Kyzmat," after which the tariff will be submitted for review to the antimonopoly authority.
The agency noted that similar practices are successfully used in other countries. The implementation of this service is seen as a step towards improving the accessibility of government services, increasing the transparency of procedures, and enhancing the quality of service for the population in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Furthermore, the realization of this initiative will be carried out in accordance with the requirements of paragraph 32 of the Rules for the acceptance of qualification exams and issuance of driver's licenses, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers' resolution dated November 27, 2025, No. 760.
