The country is looking for ways to provide the population with reliable energy
Recently, a screening of the documentary film "Atom," created by the famous director Oliver Stone, took place in Bishkek at the Kyrgyz State Technical University named after I. Razzakov. After the screening, participants discussed the directions for the development of Kyrgyzstan's energy sector, the event organizers reported.
The film, which addresses important issues of nuclear energy, also raises public concerns related to this topic.
Dmitry Konstantinov, the general director of the Rosatom representative office in Kyrgyzstan, noted in his speech: "In this documentary, the director emphasizes the importance of nuclear energy as a key element in the process of decarbonization and ensuring global energy security. For Kyrgyzstan, which has a unique nature and developing energy capacities, this issue becomes particularly relevant."
He added that to achieve energy security, the country needs a reliable foundation. "Nuclear power plants provide stable, uninterrupted power, unlike solar and wind energy, which are subject to climatic conditions. The synergy of a nuclear power plant with hydropower plants can reduce the load on them during low water periods, preserving water reserves in reservoirs. The combination of stable nuclear generation with renewable energy sources creates an ideal energy balance, providing the country with clean energy for a long time," he concluded.
During the discussion, participants expressed interest in finding constructive solutions to the accumulated problems in the country's energy sector over recent years.
