Since the beginning of 2026, the incidence of syphilis and ARVI has increased in Kyrgyzstan

According to the report from the National Statistics Committee, in February 2026, there were 42,000 cases of infectious and parasitic diseases registered in Kyrgyzstan, as reported by the Ministry of Health.

Of the total number of cases, acute respiratory viral infections accounted for 84.7 percent. Other diseases included acute intestinal infections (4.6 percent), gastroenteritis and colitis with identified pathogens (1.1 percent), ascariasis (1.5 percent), and enterobiasis (2 percent).

Data analysis for January-February 2026 shows that compared to the same period last year, the incidence of syphilis has doubled, acute intestinal infections have increased by 16.4 percent, ARVI by 4.9 percent, and brucellosis by 6.7 percent.

However, at the beginning of 2026, there is a significant decrease in cases of viral hepatitis (by 76.3 percent) and botulism (by 33.3 percent).

While there is an overall increase in gastroenteritis and colitis incidence by 31 percent across the republic, some regions, such as Batken, Naryn, and Chui, have reported decreases of 59, 11.3, and 8 percent, respectively.

Although the overall incidence of brucellosis has increased by 6.7 percent, it has decreased by 75 percent in Bishkek, and by 39.3, 33.3, and 16.4 percent in the Chui, Osh, and Naryn regions, respectively.

Additionally, the incidence of bacterial dysentery has increased by 25 percent, which is associated with a rise in cases in the Chui region (doubling) and Bishkek (1.8 times).
