Kyrgyz Parliamentarians Propose to Give Their Former Official Cars to Cultural Workers

According to MP Meerbek Miskenbaev from the SDPK faction, this would allow the parliament to support domestic culture. Especially since 2016 has been declared the Year of History and Culture in Kyrgyzstan. He believes that the distribution of the vehicles should be handled by a parliamentary working group led by MP Sadik Sher-Niyaz.
– We have fulfilled our promises to the voters, giving up official apartments and cars. And now these cars are sitting in the parliament garage and are not being used at all. I think that if we transfer them to cultural institutions, it will help with tours to the regions of the country, – said Miskenbaev.
During another parliamentary session, lawmakers also drew attention to the deplorable state of the Beyshenalieva Arts Institute. According to MP Maxat Sabirov, this educational institution is in urgent need of repairs. They also called on the government to pay attention to the condition of the State Historical Museum of the Kyrgyz Republic. MP Tazabek Ikramov shared this opinion.
– There is no need to put on a show or waste money on various weddings and celebrations. This year, we need to seriously help culture, – said Ikramov. – Look at the condition of our historical documents and exhibits in the country's museums. Many documents related to the history of the Kyrgyz are stored in other cities – Moscow, Tashkent, Almaty. But if we cannot keep them here, let’s at least bring some of them back to the country so that our descendants know their history, – concluded the parliamentarian.
Recall that at the end of December last year, the President of Kyrgyzstan, Almazbek Atambaev, signed a decree "On declaring 2016 the Year of History and Culture."
– In 2016, we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the state independence of the Kyrgyz Republic. Kyrgyz people and the entire Turkic world celebrate the 1000th anniversary of the great thinker Jusup Balasagyn. The 220th anniversary of the hero Taiylak Batyr, who fought for the independence of our Motherland, is also marked. Special significance is given to events commemorating the 100th anniversary of the national liberation uprising of 1916. It is also the 90th anniversary of the formation of the Kyrgyz ASSR and the 80th anniversary of the Kyrgyz SSR. These events and personalities played a huge role in the formation of Kyrgyz statehood and occupy a special place in the historical and cultural heritage of the people of Kyrgyzstan, – states the decree.
