Boxer Omar Livaza, representing Kyrgyzstan, has achieved a historic success by becoming the first finalist in the history of his country at the World Boxing Championship in the weight category up to 63.5 kg, which is taking place in Dubai (UAE), according to information from Sport Shredinger.

On his way to the final, Livaza secured four consecutive victories, starting from the round of 16. He first defeated an ethnic Kazakh from Uzbekistan, Sayat Ilyasov, then won against opponents from Armenia and Azerbaijan. In the semifinals, he confidently defeated Zambian representative Emmanuel Katemu with a crushing score of 5:0.

Livaza will compete in the final match on December 13 against Russian Ilya Popov, who reached the final after a controversial decision by the judges in his fight with Kazakh Ertugan Zeynullin (4:3).

It is also worth noting that another boxer from Kyrgyzstan, Ikhtiyar Nishonov, won a bronze medal after losing in the semifinals. This is only the second medal for Kyrgyzstan at the World Championships among adults — the first was won by Munarbek Seyitbek uulu in 2023 in Tashkent.
