Omar Livaza, representing the Kyrgyzstan national team, has reached the finals of the World Boxing Championship in Dubai (UAE), which is a significant achievement for the country.

In the semifinals, his opponent was Emmanuel Katema, a boxer from Zambia. Livaza confidently fought the match, demonstrating precise and powerful attacks throughout all three rounds, which allowed him to win with a score of 5:0.

In the decisive bout, the Kyrgyzstani will face Russian Ilya Popov in the fight for the gold medal.

Thus, Livaza has become the first Kyrgyzstani to reach the finals of the World Boxing Championship for adults.

This championship featured 13 boxers from Kyrgyzstan, two of whom managed to reach the semifinals, securing medals for themselves.

The other team member, Ikhtiyar Nishonov, competing in the 71 kg weight category, was unable to win his semifinal match and earned a bronze medal.

It is worth noting that the championship offers cash prizes for the winners: $300,000 for first place, $150,000 for second, and $75,000 for third. Additionally, boxers who finish in fifth place will be awarded $10,000 each.

The organizer of the competition is the International Boxing Association (IBA). In 2019, it was stripped of the right to conduct Olympic qualifying and Olympic competitions due to financial and management issues, and in June 2023, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) revoked IBA's recognition status, to which the association responded with accusations of politicization of the decision. Currently, the IBA includes 198 national federations.
