Ikhtiyar Nishonov, representing Kyrgyzstan, became the bronze medalist at the World Boxing Championship taking place in the United Arab Emirates. This was reported by representatives of the Boxing Federation of Kyrgyzstan.
He competed in the weight category up to 71 kilograms and reached the semifinals, defeating his opponents from Australia, Thailand, and Moldova. However, in the semifinals, Nishonov lost to the Kazakh boxer Aiblaykhan Zhusupov.
