Khabib Nurmagomedov, the famous former UFC lightweight champion, shared an intriguing story about how he acquired his well-known nickname "The Eagle," which has become popular among fans worldwide.
As Nurmagomedov recounted, before the start of his UFC career, he did not have a nickname. However, in 2012, after signing a contract with the organization, its representatives noticed the difficulty in pronouncing his name and suggested he choose a nickname.
At the World Sports Summit in Dubai, Khabib explained that he chose "The Eagle" as a symbol of his native Dagestan. Gradually, as he became a global star in MMA, he realized that the need for a nickname had diminished, as fans learned to pronounce his name correctly.
Nurmagomedov retired with an impressive record of 29 wins and no losses, remaining one of the most significant figures in UFC history.
