
At the 46th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), held in Tashkent, Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, the president of the Qatar Olympic Committee, was elected as the chairman.
In his speech following the elections, Sheikh Joaan emphasized that Asia is the largest and most diverse continent in the Olympic family, and this diversity is an inherent strength of the region. He noted that unity based on respect and adherence to Olympic values can transform this diversity into new opportunities, expand the rights of national Olympic committees, and promote youth development on the international sports stage.
Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani succeeded Randhir Singh from India as president of the OCA, who stepped down due to health reasons.
The General Assembly was attended by representatives of national Olympic committees from Asian countries, including the Secretary General of the NOC of Turkmenistan, Ata Akmammedov, and the Chairman of the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of Turkmenistan, Allaberdi Saparov.
