At the upcoming Winter Olympics in Italy, which will take place from February 6 to 22, 2026, 13 athletes from Russia will compete. This number is the lowest in over a century of Olympic history, as reported by Meduza.

The list of athletes was announced by the Center for Sports Training of the National Teams of the Russian Federation. The International Olympic Committee has approved the participation of 13 Russian athletes who managed to secure licenses to compete in the Games.

This number of participants has not been seen since the 1908 Summer Olympics in London, when only six athletes from the Russian Empire arrived for the competition, as noted by the publication "Sports".

The 2026 Winter Olympics will be held in Milan and at the ski resort of Cortina d'Ampezzo, and Russians will compete under a neutral flag.
