“We will pay close attention to the quality of the medals. This is very important, as the moment of the medal presentation is key for the athletes,” he noted.
A representative of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee told BBC that the American team is awaiting a decision from the organizers. The question of whether athletes will receive new medals instead of the broken ones remains open.
