The Deputy Director for Educational and Methodological Work of the IT Lyceum under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Lola Ogonbaeva, shared important information about the employment prospects for graduates during a broadcast on Birinchi Radio. She emphasized that modern youth have numerous opportunities for career advancement, especially in the field of information technology, where jobs are available both remotely and on-site.
However, in the context of an oversaturated labor market, competition is increasing, making it difficult for graduates to find employment. As a result, many young specialists are considering the possibility of working abroad, including in Russia, Kazakhstan, the USA, and European countries.
According to Ogonbaeva, today not only IT specialties are in demand, but also skilled trades, especially in countries like Russia, Korea, and the UK.
This year, the educational institution received the status of Professional IT Lyceum No. 99 under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, and held its first graduation ceremony — 241 people, of whom about 60% have already found jobs. Graduates are employed in both public and private companies, and some have gone abroad.
The Deputy Director noted that the high demand for graduates from the lyceum is linked to practice-oriented training. Students participate in hackathons, exhibitions, and create various technological projects, including websites, drones, and robots. Over the past two and a half years, the number of educational programs has increased from three to twelve, which corresponds to the needs of the labor market.
Among the popular fields, Lola Ogonbaeva highlighted the design of sewing products with the integration of IT technologies, design and computer graphics, as well as development in the field of mechatronics and mobile applications. Some students start working part-time as early as their second year, and many receive job offers from partner companies after their internships.
The Professional Lyceum actively collaborates with educational institutions in China, Korea, and Germany, developing dual education. The program includes courses in Chinese, Korean, and German languages. For example, classes in auto electricity are conducted by specialists from China, who teach students how to work with electric vehicles. Discussions are also underway about internships in Chinese companies operating in Kyrgyzstan.
“Recently, we held a master class on mechatronics and robotics, conducted by the director of the Korean language center, demonstrating the operation of drones. We also have a program for ‘system administrators’,” added Ogonbaeva.
In conclusion, she emphasized that an excessive number of IT specialists could lead to a labor market situation similar to when there were too many lawyers and economists. Therefore, it is very important to combine theory with practice so that graduates have all the necessary skills for successful competition in a “very capricious” labor market.
