In his post, he noted that despite his respect for Babakov, he cannot ignore his statements about his father.
“Tolgonai Stamalieva, the press secretary of President Sooronbay Jeenbekov, repeatedly claimed that my father secretly supported you during the elections and strongly urged Jeenbekov to leave the position of Prime Minister, emphasizing the democratic nature of the elections. This is true, my father was indeed positively inclined towards you.
However, the situation changed when it became clear that forces from another state were behind you with their resources. If you had sought support from the people instead of becoming a puppet in someone else's hands, my father would have remained neutral and would not have actively supported Jeenbekov. For him, the independence of Kyrgyzstan was the most important thing,” Kadyir Atambaev wrote.
“You told my father on the night of October 10, while under witness, ‘Abi, I will stand until the end and bring ammunition,’ ‘stand until the end.’ You assured him that Sadyr Japarov was a ‘Bakiyev fraudster’ and urged him not to respond to calls from his relatives who were trying to establish contact. Thanks to your support, my father spent another three years in prison and lost his health, while you betrayed him by siding with Sadyr Japarov, against whom my father was opposed,” Atambaev added.
In 2020, you apologized to my father for the situation with Nazarbayev and the external pressure in which you participated. I was on the third floor of my house, which had already been confiscated, when we recorded your address to the people on October 9. And now you claim that everything was different.
You also assert that I am a deputy of the Bishkek City Council, which is not true! I headed the list, but we were unlawfully removed from the elections three days before the voting, through a closed court, because they knew that the people would see the truth. I was interrogated and persecuted. Don’t you remember how it was with your participation? Were you removed from the elections? Were your mandates restricted? Were you imprisoned? Or was your business taken away? Was your family evicted from your home?” Atambaev emphasized.
“Under my father, - he added, - it was easy to be in opposition and talk about the lack of freedom of speech and democracy, discussing problems and ways to solve them. But today everything is different. Your unwillingness to notice the ongoing atrocities is your personal choice as a businessman. I do not judge you; let God judge you!”.
It is worth noting that Almazbek Atambaev expressed criticism of Sadyr Japarov's actions not only as president but also when he held the position of the Supreme Commissioner of the National Agency for Combating Corruption. The former president also noted that there are no signs of fair elections in Kyrgyzstan, opposition parties are almost completely destroyed, and the institution of parliamentarism is under threat.
In response, Babakov recalled the presidential elections of 2017, in which he himself participated. According to him, at that time, all administrative resources and measures against the competitors of the authorities were used, while under Japarov, both sons of Atambaev became deputies: one in the Jogorku Kenesh and the other in the Bishkek City Council.
