During the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Kyrgyzstan, Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyarev announced plans for the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of sports. He emphasized the upcoming World Nomad Games, which will take place next year in Kyrgyzstan. Russia has already begun to form its national team to participate in these games. The minister assured that the country will continue to compete under its own flag, which will help enhance the status of the competitions and their international recognition.
A meeting of the sports ministers of the SCO countries is also planned in Bishkek, which, according to Degtyarev, will serve as an additional impetus for the development of sports diplomacy in Eurasia.
Degtyarev expressed gratitude to Kyrgyzstan for its unwavering support of the Russian position on the international sports stage. He recalled that just recently, Russia was elected to the governing bodies of the International Anti-Doping Foundation at UNESCO, and the Kyrgyz side played an important role in this process. Similar support was provided within the framework of the International Paralympic Committee, where Kyrgyzstan opposed the discrimination of athletes with disabilities.
“It is absurd when the collective West tries to limit the participation of people with disabilities in competitions. We continue to work in various directions,” noted Mikhail Degtyarev, thanking the Kyrgyz Paralympic Committee for its demonstrated solidarity.
As a result of the meetings, the Russian sports minister emphasized that cooperation between Russia and Kyrgyzstan in the field of sports is reaching a new level, encompassing joint participation in international tournaments, strengthening sports diplomacy, as well as coordinating positions on the protection of athletes' rights and the development of mass sports.
