Technical Schools of Osh

The city is home to a number of specialized secondary educational institutions. One of the first in Osh was the state farm technical school, established in 1932, which was renamed the agricultural technical school in 1977. The technical school trains specialists in the fields of agricultural mechanization, hydraulic engineering, agronomy, and plant protection. The technical school has about 16,000 hectares of land, a workshop with 6 shops, a training ground, a library with a collection of 85,000 copies, and a museum of the history of the technical school. It employed 80 teachers, including 10 distinguished educators of the Kyrgyz SSR. Among the graduates of the technical school is I. S. Reshetnik, a Hero of the Soviet Union; the heroes of socialist labor include T. Kochubaev, D. Rafikova, T. Mashrapova, M. Matalipov.

Over the years of its existence, the technical school has trained more than 8,000 specialists.

The technical school of Soviet trade, established in 1965, trains specialists in food preparation technology, commodity studies, and the organization of trade in food products, as well as accounting in trade. The technical school employed 38 teachers and 10 instructors of production training. It is equipped with an educational building with 18 classrooms, laboratories, and has a dormitory for 450 places. The library collection consists of 45,000 copies. Since its founding, more than 5,000 specialists have graduated.

The construction technical school was established in 1965. It trains specialists in industrial and civil construction, agricultural and sanitary engineering of buildings and structures. It employs 55 teachers. The technical school has 2 dormitories for 400 places. Over 34 years, more than 3,000 specialists have been trained.

The road transport technical school — a branch of the Frunze road transport technical school — was established in 1970. The branch trains specialists in the maintenance and repair of vehicles. It employed 12 teachers.

There is a library with a collection of 9,000 copies. During its existence, the technical school has trained 1,350 specialists.

The city has a music college (established in 1963) and a medical technical school (established in 1992). They have graduated 4,200 and 2,000 specialists, respectively, over their period of existence.

The Osh Pedagogical College was opened on July 30, 1966, by the decision of the Council of Ministers of the Kyrgyz SSR.

In the first academic year, 150 students were admitted to the primary school teacher training department. At that time, the college had 7 teachers. The building of the primary school "Ulugbek" was allocated for the educational building. The first director was S. Omurkulova, and the deputy director was A. A. Alabaev. Due to insufficient material resources, the college operated in 2 shifts. In 1975, a new department for training preschool educators and music teachers was organized, and a dormitory for 600 places was opened, while in 1982, a three-story educational building was constructed. The material base was strengthened, and a library with a collection of 79,000 copies of educational and political literature was established, along with a cafeteria for 292 places. Such good results were achieved thanks to its director Y. Toktosunov (1972—1992). From the very first day, teachers Bakhramkodzhaev, Isakova, Kuchubaeva, Kasymalieva, Asanov, Lebedinenko, Samieva, Sukovitina, Moiseeva, and others worked at the college. In 1992, K. Abdylakimov became the director of the college, and in 1994, the college was renamed to a pedagogical college with the right to train teachers with higher education. In 1995, L. Myrzabekov became the director of the college. Since 1996, the pedagogical college has been transformed into a higher pedagogical college.
