Russian. Born in the city of Rudnya, Smolensk region, Russia.
Graduated from the Kyrgyz Agricultural Institute (1950), postgraduate studies (1953).
Worked as a senior lecturer, associate professor, professor, head of the department, deputy dean, dean of KSU, and since 1993 - director of the Research Institute of Regional Slavic Studies at KRSU.
Specialist in comparative literary studies and the history of Russian literature. Member of the Writers' Union (1971).
Honored Teacher of the Kyrgyz SSR (1979), Academician of the Academy of Pedagogical and Social Sciences of the Russian Federation, Corresponding Member of the MAI.
Published more than 200 scientific works, including 5 monographs and 2 textbooks.
Under his supervision, 10 candidate dissertations have been defended.
