Vladimir Alexandrovich Maximov entered the history of book graphics in Kyrgyzstan primarily as a master of drawn font. His explorations in this field are connected with the work on the construction and design of books, as well as work in posters and ex-libris. In his typographic compositions of various kinds, he demonstrates a high level of graphic culture, artistic taste, and creative imagination. Among his best works are the typographic section of the photo album "Soviet Kyrgyzstan" (Frunze: Kyrgyzstan, 1974), the font design on the title page of the album "Lydia Alexandrovna Ilyina" (Frunze: Kyrgyzstan, 1976), the typographic design and layout of the book "Turgumbay Sadykov" by B. Budaychiev and L. Prytkova (Frunze; Kyrgyzstan, 1985), and others. In 1971, Maximov participated in the International Font Competition of the CMEA countries in Dresden. One of the font projects he presented was awarded a commendation prize, and another received a diploma. Maximov developed the project for the typeface "Ala-Too," which was cast at the Shadrinsk Printing Machine Plant. Since 1979, this font has been used to print some books published by the "Kyrgyzstan" publishing house.
