In Kyrgyzstan, there is an active implementation of measures aimed at the rational use of pastures and improving the breed composition of livestock. This was shared on the air by Sharsen Chotonov, the chief specialist of the Veterinary Service for Livestock Development, Pastures, and Feed under the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry.
Chotonov noted that a system has been developed for managing pastures, which allows for the accounting and distribution of land plots among farmers. He explained that pastures are divided into seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and winter, and are also classified by distance — into close, medium, and far. There is an accounting of animals on each type of pasture, pasture tickets are issued, and control over their use is carried out.
To increase the productivity of cows, various feeds are used, including green grass in the summer, silage in the winter, and vitamin supplements. According to the specialist, modern technologies allow for the packaging and sale of vitamin feeds, ensuring that livestock receive complete nutrition throughout the year.
Additionally, Chotonov spoke about breeding work aimed at improving the breeds of cattle. Local breeds such as Arashan and Ala-Too have been developed in Kyrgyzstan through the crossbreeding of Kyrgyz and neighboring breeds. These new breeds are characterized by high productivity, good adaptation to climatic conditions, and provide quality meat and milk.
According to Chotonov, all work is carried out taking into account the natural conditions of the country and is aimed at increasing the efficiency of livestock farming, as well as preserving pastures.
