On February 24, the speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, Marlen Mamataliyev, met with the directors of educational institutions in the capital, where the "Clean City" competition was presented, set to start on March 1.

According to the press service of the Jogorku Kenesh, schools that take prize-winning places in this competition will receive significant awards. The competition for collecting plastic waste will last from March 1 to May 1, 2026. The educational institution that collects the most plastic will be declared the winner.

Mamataliyev emphasized the importance of this project, stating that it continues the ecological initiatives proposed by President Sadyr Japarov.

"In recent years, President Sadyr Japarov has introduced numerous initiatives concerning environmental protection, combating climate change, and developing a green economy. Many events are currently taking place. I believe that the 'Clean City' competition will be a continuation of these efforts and will help improve the ecological situation in our capital," he noted.

The speaker wished good luck to all participants and added that similar initiatives should be implemented in other regions.

"This competition not only helps maintain cleanliness in Bishkek but also inspires the younger generation to show patriotism, care for cleanliness, and pay attention to environmental issues. Labor is the foundation of children's future; it instills in them a sense of responsibility towards society. Therefore, such initiatives should continue in other regions as well. We strive to make our country green and prosperous. As our outstanding predecessor Iskak Razzakov said: 'If you are clean, if I am clean, then society will be clean.' Each of us must care for the environment and contribute to the development of the country as a whole," he added.

The project is being implemented with the support of the Jogorku Kenesh, the Bishkek city administration, the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports under the Cabinet of Ministers, and the Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan.
