Deputy Umbetaly Kydyraliev noted that information from the Bishkek city administration was presented at the meeting of the relevant committee, outlining a plan of seven measures to combat smog. He also inquired whether the Cabinet has a similar plan.
In response, Daniyar Amangeldiev emphasized that the government has its own plan that is already yielding results. “As I have already mentioned, fighting smog and environmental issues is not a cheap endeavor, and we are consciously undertaking this, including the zeroing of VAT. We are also working on coal enrichment, which may lead to price increases. We are addressing this issue together with the government by providing subsidies for the supply of enriched coal,” he noted, adding that the government is ready to cooperate with the parliament.
Minister of Environmental Protection Meder Mashiev reported that an interdepartmental commission has been established, which approved a work plan for 2024-2026. “The Bishkek city administration's plan of seven points has been sent to you and is part of our overall plan. If you have not received it, I am ready to send it directly,” the minister added.
