Storm Warning: Avalanches and Ice Expected on Mountain Roads in Kyrgyzstan

On March 5, avalanches, snow drifts, slippery sections, and ice are predicted in the mountainous regions of Kyrgyzstan. 

According to Kyrgyzhydromet, avalanche-prone areas will be on the following roads:

- on the 121-138 km of the Bishkek—Osh highway (Töö-Ashuu pass) and on the 198-265 km (Ala-Bel pass, Chychkan gorge);

- on the 55-115 km of the Myrza-Ake—Kara-Kulja—Alaikuu road;

- on the 45-112 km of the Ala-Buka—Kanysh-Kiya road (Chapchyma pass);

- on the 0-3 km of the Krasnaya Gorka—Ak-Tash road;

- on the 292-305 km of the Bishkek—Naryn—Torugart highway (Dolon pass);

- on the 201-205, 260-290, and 326-249 km of the Balikchy—Kazarmin—Jalal-Abad road (Kok-Art pass);

- on the 45-90 km of the Karakol—Engilchek highway (Chon-Ashuu pass).

Drivers are advised to maintain a safe distance of 500 meters when passing through avalanche-prone areas on the roads.
