Responsibility has been tightened for offenders attempting to transport goods without the necessary documents
In Kyrgyzstan, the State Tax Service has announced an increase in fines for the illegal import of goods and vehicles across the borders of the Eurasian Economic Union countries.
Now citizens will have to pay a fine of 20,000 soms, which is double the previous penalty of 10,000 soms. For legal entities, the fine amount has increased from 28,000 to 65,000 soms.
In the case of repeated violations within a year, the fines will increase even more: individuals will have to pay 40,000 soms, while legal entities will face fines of 100,000 soms. It is also worth noting that illegally imported goods may be confiscated.
Most violations are recorded at the "Ak-Zhol" checkpoint located on the border with Kazakhstan, where cosmetics, medications, supplements, cigarettes, mobile phones, vapes, and electronic cigarettes are often attempted to be transported without documents.
The Tax Service urges everyone to comply with the legislation and properly document goods to avoid high fines and loss of property.
