At the business breakfast held in Bishkek as part of the two-day business forum "B5+1", the Executive Director of the MDS, Askar Sydykov, noted that Kyrgyzstan has an impressive mineral resource potential.

Sydykov reported that the country has over 1,020 registered deposits and occurrences of minerals, representing 51 types of mineral raw materials, including metals such as gold, silver, copper, antimony, and tungsten, along with rare and rare-earth elements.

He specified that as a result of a comprehensive assessment, a list of 22 critical minerals with both confirmed and potential resources has been compiled.

According to Sydykov, as of September 2025, 2,005 licenses for subsoil use have been issued in Kyrgyzstan, of which 103 licenses belong to state enterprises with 100% state participation. In addition, the inflow of foreign direct investment into the mining sector in the first six months amounted to $190.3 million, which is 21.5% of the total volume of FDI in the country's economy. "This is more than double the level of the same period last year (203.5%), which indicates a high interest from investors in this sector," he added.
