Permission to export worn U.S. dollars from Kyrgyzstan has been extended

The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic has updated its rules and extended the temporary permit for the export of worn-out US dollars, allowing commercial banks to continue this practice until September 1, 2026. Previously, the permit was valid until March 1, 2026.

After completing operations for the export of worn-out dollars, banks are required to submit a report on the conducted operations to the National Bank within two working days.

Additionally, updates have also affected the Kazakh tenge. According to the new regulation, financial institutions such as commercial banks, exchange offices, and microfinance organizations that have licenses for conducting cash foreign exchange operations must set the purchase rate of the Kazakh tenge relative to the Kyrgyz som, taking into account a risk coefficient not exceeding 70% of the official rate established by the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan. The validity of this regulation has been extended until September 15, 2026.
