In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, a forum titled "The Future of Seed Production in Kyrgyzstan: Quality, Innovation, Partnership" opens today. The event is dedicated to the strategic development of the seed production sector in the country.
The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry is the organizer of the forum in collaboration with the Department of Agricultural Crop and Horticulture Expertise, as well as the AgroLead group of companies and the Kyrgyz Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture (KNIIZ).
Farmers engaged in seed production, representatives of cooperatives, state and private farms, as well as experts from international organizations and specialized educational institutions are participating in the event.
The goal of the forum is to give strategic importance to seed production as a key factor in increasing the yield and competitiveness of agriculture in Kyrgyzstan.
The forum emphasizes the need to raise farmers' awareness of the importance of quality seed material, attract investments to the sector, and form a systematic approach to the development of seed production in the country.
Considering the existing problems, such as the lack of high-quality seeds, outdated breeding base, and insufficient interaction between science, business, and government structures, the forum serves as a platform to unite the efforts of all stakeholders and develop joint solutions.
The program of the forum includes panel discussions, presentations by practitioners, and a specialized exhibition of seeds and modern technologies.
Participants discuss issues of national policy and strategy in the field of seed production, the introduction of new technologies, the role of cooperatives and private farms, as well as mechanisms for ensuring quality and certification of seed material.
At the end of the forum, a resolution with clear recommendations for the development of the sector is planned, as well as the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture, the Dutch company HZPC, and the AgroLead group of companies.
This forum will be an important step towards creating a sustainable, innovative, and competitive seed production system in Kyrgyzstan.
