Kyrgyzstan Agreed to Build a Cascade of Small Hydropower Plants on One River for $300 Million

On January 23, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic signed a memorandum with LLC "Kyrgyzstan Reclaim Co. Ltd" in the field of construction of a cascade of small hydropower plants on the Tar River, located in the Kara-Kulja district of the Osh region. This information was published by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of the KR.

The memorandum was signed by Altynbek Rysbekov, Deputy Minister of Energy, and Tsu Chenzi, General Director of "Kyrgyzstan Reclaim Co. Ltd".

“According to the agreements reached, the implementation of an investment project related to the construction of a cascade of small hydropower plants with a total installed capacity of about 200 MW is planned,” the press release states.

The total investment volume is estimated at approximately $300 million.

It is expected that the implementation of this project will increase new generating capacities, strengthen the energy stability of the country, and contribute to the sustainable development of the energy sector, the Ministry of Energy is confident.
