Egg prices have risen in Kyrgyzstan. The reasons were named by the Ministry of Water Resources and Agriculture

According to information from the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, the price increase has been confirmed. Ulan Chekirbaev, head of the food security department, noted that wholesale prices have increased by 2 soms just in the last week.

“The wholesale price has risen from 10 to 12 soms per egg. This is related to price increases in Kazakhstan and Russia, as we have a single market, and changes in neighboring countries directly affect us. In particular, Russia has imposed restrictions on wholesale sales,” he explained in a comment to 24.kg.

The representative of the Ministry of Water Resources and Agriculture also noted that this situation could have positive consequences for producers. Last year, egg prices were extremely low, leading to a crisis among small farms. According to Ulan Chekirbaev, the current price increase will help farmers recover.

He added that Kyrgyzstan currently meets 80% of its needs for chicken eggs. It is worth noting that as recently as autumn 2025, the ministry reported achieving full self-sufficiency in the country and even successful exports of the product.
