According to Anatoly Tikhonov, the director of the Center for Agribusiness and Food Security at the Presidential Academy (RANEPA), Russia is ready to compensate for the volumes of Iranian food supplies for Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. In addition, the Russian Federation can offer solutions in the fields of agrochemistry and energy.

Tikhonov noted that the supply of dairy products and vegetables is critically important for these countries, and Russia can meet this demand.

“We can help by providing a direct replacement for food. Russia holds leading positions in the production of various food products, including wheat, grains, flour, and vegetable oil. We are capable of fully compensating for the volumes that were previously supplied from Iran and essentially filling the empty shelves,” he added.

It is worth noting that Iran recently imposed a temporary ban on the export of all agricultural and food products, which has come into effect and will remain in place until further notice from the government. This decision has raised concerns in Tajikistan, which is one of the main importers of Iranian products.

Iranian authorities explain this measure as a necessity to prevent shortages and rising prices for basic goods amid the conflict with the USA and Israel. They need to ensure the domestic market is supplied with food and prevent possible price spikes.
