In the Naryn region, in the At-Bashinsky district, ongoing work is being carried out to organize hot meals for children in grades 1–4 in public schools.

The correspondent of Turmush met with Aksatbek Tölömüshovich Dıykanaev, the head of the district education department, who shared information about the system of providing hot lunches to children.

According to him, 14 soms are allocated per student per day, which has become the basis for the menu approved for all children.

“According to the approved menu, for the first four days of the week, students receive hot dishes, and on Friday — compote and a bun. Currently, there are no interruptions in the provision of hot meals. All schools are equipped with the necessary conditions. We call this a 'prospective menu': it is updated every week,” noted Dıykanaev.

He also added that previously parents collected additional funds for meals. However, after the New Year, in response to numerous complaints from parents, this approach was discontinued.

“There are many questions: if the government provides funds, why should parents pay extra? Therefore, school directors were given instructions, and additional contributions for hot meals have been canceled. Now, parents of students in grades 1–4 do not incur additional financial costs,” he clarified.

It is important to note that within the allocated 14 soms, it is impossible to provide full hot meals for all five days, which is why students are offered compote and a bun one day a week, while on the other days they receive hot dishes.
