The parliamentary press service reports that the agenda included issues related to the state of sports and the need to improve the legislative framework. Athletes had previously voiced their concerns to the speaker.
Marlen Mamataliyev emphasized that in recent years, physical culture and sports have been under special attention. He pointed to the construction of new sports facilities supported by President Sadyr Japarov.
In his opinion, the existing laws are outdated and do not meet modern requirements. "We need to combine efforts, exchange opinions, and analyze the situation in sports. You are the most informed about the existing problems," he noted.
The speaker also stressed the need for a clear definition of the powers of sports federations and agencies, as well as control over the use of budget funds. Transparency in the expenditure of funds should be among the priorities.
Additionally, he proposed creating a separate law regulating professional sports, which would include issues related to the employment history of athletes, their employment after the end of their careers, as well as mechanisms for state support in case of accidents. It is also important to develop a system for participation in national and international competitions.
Mamataliyev highlighted the need to adapt anti-doping regulations to international standards and to tighten the responsibility of athletes. He emphasized the role of public-private partnerships and the need to attract investments, as well as to develop strategies for 5 and 10 years for the development of the sports sector.
During the meeting, athletes and coaches also presented their proposals, which will be taken into account in the formation of new legislation.
