According to Amatov, many athletes have been competing for the national team for many years, but this period is not counted towards their work experience. This can lead to serious problems with pension provision after the end of their sports careers.
The deputy noted that many athletes are part of the national team for 5–10 years, fully dedicating themselves to training and competitions. Because of this, they often lack time for work and accumulating a full work record.
Amatov suggested discussing the possibility of counting the years spent on the national team when calculating work experience and pension payments through the Social Fund.
In response, the director of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, Urmat Asanbaev, stated that athletes over 18 years old receive social support and medical assistance, but they do not receive a salary.
According to him, the state provides medical support and treatment for athletes in case of injuries sustained during competitions.
Amatov emphasized that such state support is especially important when athletes suffer serious injuries while representing the country in international competitions. As an example, he cited Olympic medalist Akjol Makhmudov, who has faced injuries in his career.
