Inspector of the Tyup District Electric Network, Elmira Sydykova, has been working in the energy sector for 24 years. She describes her job not just as a profession, but as a calling. In 2003, she joined the Tyup Electric Network and has continued to work there ever since.

Elmira Sydykova hails from the village of Taldy-Suu. After graduating from M. Elebaev School, she continued her education at a technical college in Frunze (now Bishkek). However, her fate turned out to be closely linked with the energy sector.

As Sydykova explains, she decided to enroll in a popular specialty at the time — trade. “But life took a different turn. In 1990, I got married and moved to Kurmenty. My husband worked in the energy sector. I often accompanied him on trips, observing his work closely — that’s how my interest and respect for this field developed. Later, I also got a job at the Tyup Electric Network. Now our son is continuing our profession,” Elmira shares.

Elmira Sydykova, along with her colleagues, has gone through all stages of modernization of the district's networks — from old wooden poles to new digital systems. “Earlier, there was a huge amount of manual work: old meters, twisted wires, crooked poles — all of this caused significant losses. Day and night, we went on raids and conducted explanations. Now it’s a completely different time. ‘Smart’ meters, new cables, and concrete poles are being installed. Losses have decreased, and the quality and convenience of work have increased manifold,” she says.

According to Elmira, working in the energy sector involves constant contact with people and sometimes difficult decisions. “My husband, son, and I are all in the same field. In winter and summer — without weekends — we rush to where the light needs to be restored. There have been times when we saw that there were small children in the house, and we couldn’t disconnect the power — so we paid for the meter out of our own pockets. But the gratitude of the people, their ‘bata’ — that is the greatest reward. These words of support give us the strength to keep working,” she reported.

Elmira Sydykova believes that energy work is a necessary and respected profession. “Specialists in this field will always be in demand. To the youth, I want to say: study, strive, take advantage of all opportunities. Those who are hardworking will find their place,” says Elmira Sydykova.
