This first delivery is part of an order for aviation kerosene, with a total volume of 1000 tons, which is an important step in meeting the needs of the Kazakh market for this type of fuel, notes Xinhua.
The Chinese news agency also emphasizes that a subsidiary of CNPC plans to continue its partnership with Kazakhstan, including the purchase of oil from Kazakhstan and the supply of refined products back, which typically have a higher value than raw materials.
CNPC is actively represented in the Kazakh market: the company owns JSC "SNPС-Aktobemunaigas" and controls the Shymkent oil refinery, as well as participates in oil production in several regions, including Aktobe, Kyzylorda, Mangystau, and Ulytau. Now the Chinese corporation has also begun exporting aviation kerosene to Kazakhstan, likely produced from Kazakh oil.
Kazakhstan is facing serious challenges in ensuring aviation kerosene supply: the deficit of this fuel is about 34.4%. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has already commented on the excessively high prices for aviation kerosene.
Against this backdrop, Kazakhstan is increasing imports of aircraft fuel from abroad, primarily from Russia and Kyrgyzstan. At the same time, the country is boosting oil supplies to China, and after recent attacks by Ukrainian drones on the CPC terminal, Kazakhstan sent a shipment of oil from the Kashagan field to China for the first time. Thus, Astana is likely to continue supplying oil to Beijing while receiving aviation kerosene in return at a significant markup.
