Kazakhstan expressed protest regarding the Ukrainian attack on the CPC in Novorossiysk

Kazakhstan's foreign ministry noted that this is already the third case of aggression against a peaceful facility, the functions of which are protected by international norms. “As a responsible participant in the global energy market, Kazakhstan emphasizes the importance of ensuring stability and uninterrupted supply of energy resources. The CPC plays a key role in maintaining the stability of the global energy system, and we view this incident as negatively affecting bilateral relations with Ukraine. We expect the Ukrainian authorities to take measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future,” the official statement said.

On November 29, at 06:06 Astana time, unmanned vessels attacked the marine infrastructure facilities of the CPC in the area of the Novorossiysk port. As a result of the strike, the offshore mooring device VPU-2 was severely damaged and can no longer be used until the full range of restoration works is completed. The CPC reports that further operation of this device is impossible.

In connection with the incident, Kazakhstan redirected its oil export volumes to other routes.
