Now Google Translate will be able to use the "enhanced capabilities of Gemini" for more accurate and natural translations of nuanced phrases. The improvements are already available in the Android and iOS apps, as well as on the website and in Google Search. Initially, they will be available in the USA and India for translations between English and about 20 other languages, including Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, and German.
Users can now also listen to the translated speech directly in their headphones. To do this, simply point the smartphone at the speaker, and the translation will be played in the user's native language. Thanks to Gemini 2.5 Flash Native Audio technology, the service can convey tone of voice, accents, and intonations, making communication more natural and understandable.

This mode will be useful for communicating with foreigners, participating in lectures and events abroad, as well as when watching content in another language. To use this feature, users need to connect their headphones, open the Translate app, select the "Live translate" option at the bottom of the screen, specify the language (or leave it on automatic detection), and start the mode. Additionally, users will be able to see the transcription on the screen.

Currently, the feature is available in beta mode for Android users in the USA, Mexico, and India. It is compatible with any headphones and supports over 70 languages. Google plans to improve translation quality and implement this feature in the iOS version and in other countries by 2026.

Furthermore, the language learning tools introduced in August have been updated. Now users will receive more detailed feedback when practicing pronunciation, and a "daily streak" system will be introduced to track the days when the user studies without breaks.
