China announced countermeasures in response to the sale of U.S. weapons to Taiwan
A representative of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented on the decision to impose retaliatory measures against 20 American companies associated with the military sector, as well as 10 of their executives.
This decision was a response to recent statements from the United States regarding large-scale arms supplies to Taiwan. In accordance with the PRC's "Law on Countering Foreign Sanctions," China has decided to impose sanctions on the specified companies and their executives, who have been involved in the process of arming Taiwan in recent years.
"The Taiwan issue is one of China's most important core interests, and it represents a red line in the relations between China and the United States that cannot be crossed," noted the representative of the country's foreign ministry.
He also added that any actions crossing the boundaries regarding Taiwan will be met with a resolute response from China. Companies or individuals engaged in arms supplies to Taiwan will face the consequences of their actions. "No one should underestimate the firm resolve and strong capabilities of the government and people of China in defending national sovereignty and territorial integrity," emphasized the diplomat.
In conclusion, the representative of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged the United States to strictly adhere to the principle of "One China" and the three joint communiqués between China and the United States, as well as to fulfill the commitments made by American leaders. He called for an end to dangerous actions regarding the arming of Taiwan, which undermine peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, and not to send misleading signals to separatist forces advocating for "Taiwan independence." China is prepared to continue taking decisive measures to protect its sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.
