As part of the 30th regular meeting of the heads of government of Russia and China, a decision was made to further deepen cooperation in the field of peaceful nuclear energy, including the joint construction of new nuclear power plants. This is stated in the joint communiqué published following the meeting.
The document indicates that the countries intend to develop cooperation in the areas of thermonuclear fusion, fast neutron reactors, and a closed nuclear fuel cycle. It is also planned to create "package" agreements for the initial stage of the nuclear fuel cycle, which will facilitate the promotion of joint construction of new nuclear power plants based on the principles of mutually beneficial cooperation and consideration of the interests of both parties.
According to TASS, Russia and China will continue work on the construction of the Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant and the Xudapu Nuclear Power Plant, with the intention to complete the project within the established timelines.
