The Governor of St. Petersburg and the Mayor of Bishkek discussed prospects for cooperation

Governor Georgy Poltavchenko met with the Mayor of Bishkek, Kubanychbek Kulmatov, at Smolny. His visit to the northern capital was timed to coincide with the opening of Bishkek Days in St. Petersburg. The meeting discussed issues of strengthening cooperation between St. Petersburg and the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Currently, there is an Agreement on cooperation in trade, economic, scientific, technical, and cultural fields, signed between the Bishkek City Hall and the Government of St. Petersburg in June 2012. During a recent visit (in October 2014) of a St. Petersburg delegation to the Kyrgyz Republic, a decision was made to develop a new Action Plan for the implementation of the Agreement.
In March of this year, St. Petersburg held a cultural and educational event in Bishkek. As part of this event, a round table on cooperation in the field of vocational and technical education was successfully held, and courses for teachers of Russian language, mathematics, and computer science were organized. A presentation of St. Petersburg universities for schoolchildren in Bishkek took place.
Georgy Poltavchenko noted that mutually interesting areas of cooperation include education, construction, and healthcare. Information about new projects and constructions in St. Petersburg can be found at this link http://spbhomes.ru/. St. Petersburg is ready to supply machinery products to Kyrgyzstan. On the other hand, our city is interested in the implementation of agricultural products from Kyrgyzstan. During the meeting, the Governor instructed the Committee for Entrepreneurship Development and Consumer Market to work out this issue in more detail. "We would like to see representatives of Kyrgyzstan as active participants in the St. Petersburg Partnership, the Small and Medium Business Forum, the Innovation Forum, and other significant business events that take place in our city," said Georgy Poltavchenko.
As part of Bishkek Days in St. Petersburg, a park named after Chingiz Aitmatov was opened in the Kalininsky district. Trees and flowers donated by the Bishkek City Hall will be planted there. "We have a common history and culture. We need to preserve the long-standing good relations that have stood the test of time and involve more young people in them. Together, we are fulfilling this noble cause today, filling our connections with real content," said Georgy Poltavchenko.
