Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry comments on the incident with tankers in the Black Sea

The diplomatic agency expresses deep concern regarding the current situation

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan has made a statement regarding the recent incident with tankers in the Black Sea, information about which was published on the official website of the agency.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan expresses serious concern regarding the attacks that occurred on January 13, 2026, when drones attacked three tankers heading to the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) marine terminal in the Black Sea,” the statement said.

During negotiations with ambassadors from European countries, as well as representatives from the United States and other international partners, we emphasized the need to implement effective measures to ensure the safety of hydrocarbon transportation, including maritime routes, in strict accordance with international standards.

It is important to note that the Republic of Kazakhstan is not involved in any military conflicts, makes a significant contribution to international and European energy security, and guarantees stable energy resource supply in accordance with international norms. The mentioned tankers had all the necessary permits and appropriate identification systems,” added the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Erlan Zhetybaev.

The increasing number of such incidents underscores the rising risks to international energy infrastructure. We call for closer cooperation with our partners to develop joint measures aimed at preventing similar cases in the future,” he concluded.
