The official response from Ukraine to Kazakhstan's concerns regarding the attacks on the infrastructure of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) was presented in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. The document emphasizes that Ukraine's actions are not aimed at opposing Kazakhstan or other countries.
The message highlights that Ukraine is aware of Kazakhstan's concerns regarding the state of the CPC infrastructure. It also emphasizes that all of Ukraine's efforts are focused on defending against Russian aggression, which is a right to self-defense. "The main reason for the destabilization of the situation in the Black Sea region and beyond remains Russian aggression," the statement notes.
Furthermore, Kyiv expressed dissatisfaction with Kazakhstan's lack of condemnation regarding Russia's attacks on the civilian population of Ukraine, including residential buildings and energy facilities, among which are substations of nuclear power plants.
“We call on all states to focus their efforts on ensuring that the aggressor stops its criminal war against our people as soon as possible. We also reaffirm our commitment to friendly and pragmatic relations with Kazakhstan, based on the historically strong ties between our peoples,” the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry added.
On November 29, at 6:06 AM Astana time, unmanned vessels attacked CPC maritime facilities in the area of Novorossiysk port, resulting in significant damage to the offshore mooring device VPU-2. Kazakhstan was forced to redirect its oil export volumes to alternative routes.
In turn, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan expressed a protest to Ukraine regarding the new targeted attack on the critically important infrastructure of the international CPC in the waters of Novorossiysk port.
