In Kyrgyzstan, farmers are being urged to unite into cooperatives with the aim of implementing crop rotation on limited land plots. This was reported by Turat Idirisov, head of the Department of Crop Production, Horticulture, and Cooperation in the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, during a radio program.

In his opinion, adhering to crop rotation on small areas presents a challenging task, which has already led to a decline in the yields of certain agricultural crops. For example, in the Talas region, farmers have grown beans for several consecutive years without changing crops, seeking quick profits, and this has negatively impacted their results.

The Ministry suggests that farmers replace beans and other technical crops with alternatives such as corn, barley, and wheat to help restore soil fertility. To achieve this goal, farmers are encouraged to unite into cooperatives, which will allow for the organization of crop rotation on larger areas.

Idirisov also emphasized that the government supports cooperation by providing priority access to land reserves of the State Land Fund, which are primarily leased to cooperatives, as well as seed and breeding farms.

Moreover, cooperatives can take advantage of preferential financing. Producer associations have the opportunity to obtain loans at a rate of 6% per annum through state banks for the purchase of machinery and equipment.

According to the ministry's data, 68 new agricultural cooperatives were registered in the country this year. Next year, the creation of another 70-80 cooperatives is planned after their official registration with the Ministry of Justice, which will allow them to obtain loans and additional land plots.
