Kazakhstan joined the Council of Peace without a contribution of one billion dollars

Kazakhstan has joined the Council of Peace without the mandatory financial contribution of one billion dollars, which is stipulated as voluntary in the organization's charter. This was reported by the press service of Akorda.

According to the provided information, to become a member of the Council, only a sovereign decision of the state is required.

“After joining, the country will remain in the Council for three years. The voluntary contribution of one billion dollars mentioned in the charter is not mandatory for membership. It is the right of each participant. If the contribution is made within the first year, the country can extend its presence in the Council for a period exceeding three years. Kazakhstan became a member of the Council of Peace without any financial contribution, which fully complies with the charter requirements,” the press service emphasized.

It is worth noting that on January 22, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the charter of the Council of Peace, which was established at the initiative of former U.S. President Donald Trump.
